HR is not the police. HR is not the party organizer. HR is not a cost center. More importantly, HR is not there to replace the responsibility that leaders and direct managers have with their teams and people.
Often, HR is blamed for poor managerial and leadership styles and decisions. HR most definitely helps people and teams, and leaders and managers. But HR is not supposed to replace their role. 5. Conflict Resolution: HR mediates disputes, fostering a harmonious work environment.
6. Compliance: HR ensures compliance with laws and internal policies, mitigating legal risks.
7. Employee Relations: HR addresses concerns, promotes engagement and organizes events.
8. Policy Development: HR creates and updates company policies, ensuring clarity.
9. Data Management: HR handles employee data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
10. Organizational Development: HR assists in organizational change, and implementing new processes.
What HR doesn’t do?
1. Micromanage Employees: HR doesn't interfere with daily tasks.
2. Make Final Decisions on Hiring: The final decision lies with managers.
3. Replace Managers: HR supports managers but doesn’t assume their roles. Managers are accountable for their teams.
4. Handle Personal Disputes: HR mediates professional conflicts, not personal ones.
5. Override Company Policies: HR enforces policies without exceptions.
6. Provide Unlimited Confidentiality: HR respects confidentiality within legal limits.
7. Offer Unlimited Benefits: HR manages benefits within the framework of company policies and budget constraints.
8. Act Without Data: HR relies on data for fair decisions.
9. Replace Legal Counsel: Provides general legal guidance but not specialized advice.
10. Handle Personal Errands: HR focuses on workplace matters, not personal tasks.
